If you follow Our Lovely Mess on instagram you'll be familiar with swedish beauty Nathalia Crabtree's effortless style. Based in rural WA, Nathalia has created a warm and inviting family home to raise daughters Olivia and Pippa. In this interview, Nathalia invites us into Pippa's fairytale room and shares her top tips on how to create a room that both mother and daughter will fall in love with.
1. What's the inspiration behind Pippa's room design?
I wanted Pippa to have a room she could truly love. A space that was both functional and fun, whimsical and magical all in one. I love the softness of the pink wallpaper combined with the rose gold bed and the soft cosy rug and Pip absolutely loves the princess feel of it all! I also found inspiration in what I wanted as a little girl which was lots of little things to explore and to put my treasures and favourite books.
2. What tips do you have for mums wanting to create a magical kids room?
I think start with one thing and work from there. I, with the help of an amazing interior stylist (Jenna from Style and Leaf Co here in rural WA), looked at endless amounts of wallpaper before we found this one from Minnie and Me. It was so good to have someone to bounce ideas with and she totally understood my vision too! After that I worked from there and found pieces that suited the feel of a whimsical but not crowded and not too old fashioned princess room. I also spent a lot of time looking for inspiration both on Instagram and Pinterest, putting together elements from all the room Pip and I loved.
3. What does the Little Teekies tent signify in the space?
It adds SO much. It provides endless magic and so much fun for both my girls! It is so special that they can have their very own little fairy castle (that’s what Pip calls it!) and they love that they can shut the world out and just be in their own little haven. It’s also extremely stylish and so well made! A real treasure to pass down through the generations.
